Andrew Lindsey Gibson
Born 4/16/1841 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His parents, Johnson Gibson and Rachel Hoover. Andrew was born and raised on a farm. In 1861, at the age of 20, when the Civil War started, he enlisted with the Union forces and served 1 year in the 19th Indiana Iron Brigade. He then reenlisted in 1862 for 3 years in the 79th Indiana Infantry. In 1865, Andrew was honored as a distinguished, honorable, and worthy soldier; he received an honorable discharge. On 7/18/1866 he married Eliza Ann Carson. In 1867 they moved to Missouri where they raised their four children. The couple had a total of 6 children but two passed at birth. Andrew was a lifelong farmer. He was known as the oldest and most respected citizen in his community. He was known as a loving, thoughtful husband and father. A gentleman of high character, a good neighbor and a friend to everyone. Andrew passed on 7/2/1915 and was laid to rest in Elliot Grove Cemetery (memorial ID 33087611). His wife Eliza was laid to rest next to him in 1920.
