Harris Clark was born in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on March 28, 1831. It is not known who his parents were or if he had any siblings.
He married Johanna Charlotte Stuebgen on April 14, 1892. They had three children: Mary M. Clark (1858-1863), Thomas Clark (1863-1865) & Clara Clark Henninger (?-1892)
He was a watchmaker and a member of the 6th (212th) PA Heavy Artillery, Co. D. They organized at Pittsburgh, Pa. on September 15, 1864. The unit moved to Washington, D. C., on September 17. Then, attached to 2nd Brigade, DeRussy’s A Division, 22nd Corps, to December 1864. 1st Brigade, DeRussy's. Division, 22nd Corps, to June, 1865.
His service areas include Guard Orange & Alexandria Railroad between Alexandria and Manassas, Va., September 29-November 17, 1864. Garrison Forts Marcy, Ward, Craig, Aeno, Albany, and Lyon, Defences of Washington, south of the Potomac, till June 1865. Mustered out June 13, 1865.
