Remembering their lives - 

Phillip Stowe Clare was born on September 28, 1918, to Henneretta Beecher Stowe Clare and John L. Clare. He was the youngest of 9 boys and two sisters in the family. Phillip enlisted in the military on September 11, 1940, joining Btry C 244th Coast Artillery during World War II. After his service, he continued his military career by joining the New York National Guard Hq 3d Bn 107 Inf on October 4, 1948, eventually retiring as Lt. Colonel. In 1945, Phillip joined the Sons of the American Revolution, tracing his lineage to his 4th great grandfather, Elihu Stow.

On January 12, 1923, Joan Harris Plunkett Clare was born, and she later became Phillip's wife. The two married, and together, they lived out their lives. Joan passed away on May 15, 1999. Joan is laid to rest with Phillip in Arlington. 

Phillip Stowe Clare passed away on September 13, 2010, in South Boston, Halifax County, Virginia.
